上世纪90年代初，东北工业城市下岗工人陈桂林，靠组乐队勉强维生。前妻归来争夺女儿抚养权，他一心让女儿学琴，却买不起钢琴。借钱、偷琴均失败后，他毅然召集旧日工友，在废弃厂房中用钢铁手工打造一架特殊的钢琴……

In the early 1990s, Chen Guilin, a laid-off worker in a northeastern industrial city of China, barely made a living by forming a band. When his ex-wife returned to fight for custody of their daughter, he was determined to let the girl learn to play the piano but couldn’t afford one. After failing to borrow money or steal a piano, he resolutely gathered his former workmates and set out to handcraft a special piano from steel in an abandoned factory...
