该片根据阿城的同名小说改编，讲述了在中国“十年动乱”时期，一位插队知青被抽调到农场中学教书，最后因他没有按教学大纲及课本内容教而被解职的故事。

This film, adapted from Ah Cheng's novel of the same name, tells the story of an educated youth who was sent to work in the countryside during China's "Ten-Year Upheaval". He was later transferred to teach at a farm middle school, but was eventually dismissed for failing to teach in accordance with the syllabus and textbook content.
